Abilities: General vampiric abilities. Enhanced senses, extreme strength, advanced healing, and immortality are the physical attributes. He's hasn't really gotten the hang of the whole hypnotism thing, so he doesn't even really attempt it. And as far as levitation, well, vampire or not he prefers to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
And, like any vampire, Nathaniel can't stand the sunlight. Indirect sunlight isn't oh so bad, but he's definitely not a fan. And silver's definitely another thing on his not-so-much-favorite-things list.
Personality: Nathaniel is a very deep and caring person, but the horrors in his life have hardened him, and sometimes make that hard to believe. He's got a tough-as-nails attitude, and quite frankly doesn't take shit from nobody. Though he hates resorting to violence, he's quick to neutralize a situation, and isn't afraid to jump directly into danger.
When it comes to those he cares about, Nate is extremely loyal and protective, and will go to the ends of the world just to make sure they are safe. He struggles being close to people, knowing what he is and what happened to the last person he was truly close with. And while he acknowledges what he is, from an outsider's perspective, it's extraordinary hard for anyone to see it because of the near perfect self-control he's learned to maintain.

Bio: Born on July 26, 1940 to James and Victoria Logan, Nathaniel grew up with a pretty solitary life. In the wake of WWII, he was raised out in rural Fort Worth, Texas, along with his three brothers and younger sister, working mainly to farm the land and at times, to assist his father who was a teacher at the local school.
When he was 18, like his father before him, Nathaniel enlisted in the Army, and was sent off to fight in the growing Vietnam War. It was a hard and dirty war, fought endlessly with no sure end in sight, but Nate soldiered on, and went far in the military. His experience earned him a spot on a special ops squad, formed at the time to combat and garner intelligence on the growing Cold War situation.
This squad, originally meant to be an intelligence center, soon began dealing with supernatural research and psychic experimentation, all in response to the Soviets' actions to do the same. Among the squad Nate was "the old guy", and often looked upon as the father figure, responsible for taking care of and training the new recruits.
Deciding on the early retirement of sorts, Nate left active duty and was honorably discharged. While he still remained a consultant for the military, he took up a position as a professor of folk lore and antique weaponry at the University of Texas at Arlington. It was there that he met Lilly Foster, another professor that the university. They immediately hit it off, and the two grew close, to the point that they might soon become more than just friends.
Of course, that's when everything came crashing down.
Less than a year after Nate began teaching, he was attacked one night when leaving the campus. At first he didn't know what had hit him, but soon his combat instincts kicked in, and he was able to fight off his attacker before it killed him.
Badly injured, Nate headed to the closest place of safety he knew; Lilly's apartment. He barely made it there, passing in and out of consciousness because of his injuries. Knowing though what had attacked him, he warned Lilly not to call 911, but instead gave her a number to a close friend of his back from his time as a special ops member. Soon after, he passed out.
Lilly called the number, but before help could arrive, Nate turned. The vampire that attacked him had managed to infect Nate with his blood, turning him into a vampire as well. Blinded by the bloodlust all newborn vampires feel, Nate untintentionally attacked Lilly, feeding from her and raping her. Before he could kill her, he managed to regain some self-control, and fled, knowing the horror of what he had done, and what he had become.
His friend, a young special ops soldier known as Hawk, managed to save Lilly, and cared for her after Nate's attack. Understanding the situation, Hawk promised Nate that he would watch after Lilly, as well as the daughter their horrid encounter had produced.
Remaining in touch with Hawk, Nate joined him to help form a covert and classified military squad, much like the team they themselves had originally met in, code-named "Operation Shadow". Though his participation in the squad has remained a secret, Nate has used this position to keep a close eye on his daughter, Katarina Foster.
