Bio: Abandoned as a newly born baby in ancient Rome, he would be fated to death but was taken by slavers and sold to a man named Julius under the sole purpose of being raised as the ultimate warrior. Julius has never showed any sign of love or care for his young apprentice and even at early age pressed him into tough trials to toughen his spirit and body. He was never taught anything else other than the art of fighting and killing, and baptized with the name of Marius, he became one of the most feared and acclaimed gladiators of ancient Rome, called ‘The Lion’ for his fierceness in battle.
It was the only life Marius knew and it went on long after Julius’ death, a single minded warrior whose only glory came from the blood spill in the arena and the certainty that someday someone stronger would end his life and take his place. Back then, the only thing he had to hope for was a glorious death in battle.
However his prowess in battle and his never ending vigor and ability to live through injuries that would kill most mortals got the attention of the roman generals that granted him his liberty in exchange of him fighting on their army. Point was, Marius had never tried to break free of the bounds of slavery because he knew nothing else. Still they gave him a sword and a shield and pointed him to their enemy, and so he went into combat.
This went on until the generals grew weak and old and started to drop like flies, and yet Marius showed no sign of aging, he was still the same powerful warrior as he was before. But the enemies of Rome had unknowingly opened his eyes to a broader world and with them, the warrior learned.
Curious about his own condition, one night he slipped away from the soldier’s camp to seek out a witch of the wild that was fabled to inhabit the forests nearby. Upon finding the witch, Marius discovered her to be a beautiful young woman divined that he was in fact the roman god Mercury, the messenger of the gods. Curiosity about mankind had driven him into performing an ancient ritual that would allow him to be reborn as a mortal, however the ritual also caused him to lose his memory of his previous existence.
In the forests as his memory returned, he found more than he expected and discovered love with the young witch in his arms. In those woods, they lived for a few years until slavers ignoring the warnings of a witch, found and killed her. Marius who was hunting, returned to find her brutally murdered and hunted down the slavers enacting bloody revenge upon them.
For a century, he lived alone in those woods. Tired of the world and its endless conflicts, he sworn never again to be a slave of another’s will.
However eventually, the civilized world trespassed into his woods and the ancient warrior was drawn back into the world.
Time has passed and Marius has been involved in several conflicts, from ancient Rome to the honorable Samurais, true to the curse, always surrounded by death and conflict.
