Wow, it certainly was funny how time could fly whether you were having fun or not. Almost two weeks had past since Corbin had first had her brought to the compound. Ok, well maybe it was only one week but it still felt as if it was two. It had also been forty eight hours since she'd accidentally unlocked her guardian dragon. She'd really thought he was going to eat her over that one and it was only by shear will that she managed not to try to escape before he could. Logic told her that would only have made matters worse and after he'd had a bit of time to ... cope... He'd come around to seeing things her way... Sort of...a little.. ok, not really but at least he wasn't snapping at her and muttering foul things under his breath. That had to say something right? Right. Always best to look on the bright side of things.
Sighing a bit pitifully, the petite blond wiggled her newly painted cotton candy toes and set the bottle aside. She'd changed the color at least fifty million times in the past few days but she'd always returned to this bright, frothy tone. It suited her and made her think of delicious, melt in your mouth sugar. Her lover also seemed to like it although not as much as the Sex Me Up red. That one had landed her flat on her back without so much as a hello kiss or a chocolate bon bon. He certainly was an insatiable creature.. and one that definitely reminded her of her favorite flavor of chocolate.
At the thought of sugar, Rissa groaned and looked to her pile of comfort food. Corbin had allowed her to bring all her favorite things with her and there were currently fixings for her most adored snack ever just awaiting her desire. Deciding it was high time to have at it, she bounced up, grabbed the ingredients and marched resolutely towards the kitchen area. Yeah, yeah, Corbin had warned her to stay in his rooms when he or his new second weren’t around but damn it... she was tired of hiding out like some sort of weak kneed damsel in distress. If some beastie wanted to take a nip out of her hide, well , it would get a taste of her version of the newspaper.
About half way there, Rissa became aware that she was being stalked. Shadows seemed to bend and blend with the darkness. Pretending not to be worried, she strolled along and then blew the doors to the kitchen area wide open. The "kitchen" consisted of a fiery spit, an old fashioned fireplace and heated rocks. Several... things... hovered around and one turned to growl at her only to have her hold up her hand and give it a silencing look. After casting a glance at the others, it hushed but prowled towards her. Rissa's brow arched but she simply bounced forward and placed her things on the wooden trestle.
"Wow.... When Corbin said primitive.. he really meant it.." she trilled out, ignoring the stains of blood that seemed to be all over the place. "I hope you all will forgive me but I was in need of some chocolate. Chocolate cures ever ailment and I think its high time we all have a discussion while coming to terms with how things are going to be around here. Since I wanted to make this special snack, it seemed only logical that you fine sirs would be the appropriate place to start... "
Casting them all a beaming smile that had them sitting back on their haunches in confusion, Marissa nodded her head and congratulated herself on making headway. The sound of feet behind her snapped her head around but it was only the ever present female wolf, Danger , who was slinking in the open..doorway? that lead to the surrounding forest. The wolf froze as soon as she saw Rissa and curled a lip. The snarl that seemed to crawl out of her throat made the little witch tense and she was glad she did when two more of the females stepped inside and sneered at her. The men in the room seemed to retreat a bit, leaving Marissa on her own. Danger prowled forward and made a wide circle around her as she seemed to size her up. Sighing, the blond stepped away from the make shift trestle and gave the woman a fierce look back. So this was the way it was going to be… so be it then.
“Is there a problem or are you just normally this … bitchy? You kind of resemble someone who has something stuck where the sun don't shine.” she said, firing the first round.
That seemed to take the other female back a stride. Dangers eyes flashed with something Rissa couldn’t quite make out but she thought it was a flash of respect. Instantly, her evaluation of the situation changed and she lifted her chin and meet her gaze with a knowing one of her own. Things were about to get interesting.
“Well, well…The barbie doll has a mouth... Got anything to back that up, chica? I must say... you've lost me a bit of money this week... I had $20 bucks that you'd never emerge from the Fae's bed.....I’m surprised to see you still alive after being locked in his rooms… “ the dark haired beauty sneered back. “Did he finally let you out to play with the big dogs? Could it be that hes growing tired of his little play toy?”
Snorting, Marissa rolled her eyes and pinned a glare on the other two women as they started to step forward. The glint in her eyes made their brows arch and snarls peel back their lips.
“Oh no… Your master ISN’T tired of me and neither am I tired of him… He’s such a magnificent lover, you know….” Rissa purred, knowing some of this encounter was due to the jealousy of the other bitchs in the “pack”. “In fact, it was for that very reason that I came to the kitchens.. I am making a delicious little snack to revive our … energy.. You know, bed play takes so much out of a girl…and you must admit... Sugar is so much better than..... leftovers... Your leader is a man of discriminating tastes.... ”
Another look flashed across the brunettes face and Rissa knew that she’d scored another point. The pieces of this puzzle were starting to fall into place and something told her that this was an important stepping stone in what kind of life she would have here. Danger had come here with every intention of testing her… Determining her ability to be the alpha female on the block. It made sense in a weird sort of way... Any dominant female would want rights to the dominant male. In wolf mentality, only the strongest could rule and Rissa realized that she would have to earn her place.
“Ah yes… it must be so hard being his whore.” The other woman drawled. “That’s all you are to him… an easy piece of ass that isn’t capable of anything but warming his bed…. Unlike the rest of us. ”
Those words hit Rissa like a ton of bricks. She told herself she shouldn’t care what they thought of her and this was just an shot fired in the dark but it royally pissed her off. Fury flared from her eyes and her hand shot out to knock the other female across the room. Danger immediately shifted into wolf form and rebounded. She came at her with teeth bared and a growl so loud that it reverberated through out the “kitchen”. Waiting until the last moment, Rissa ducked underneath her leap and drew a binding ward on her belly as she soared over the top of her.
Unable to check herself, the wolf sprawled on the floor and lay struggling against the spell. The other two women shifted and then darted in to join the fray but a snarl from the downed female made them hesitate. Marissa immediately warded them both off and slapped a silencing spell on them for good measure. She was pleased to note she wasn’t even breathing hard when she turned back to the original antagonizer.
Stalking forward, she eyed the female and then arched a brow.
“Do you yield?” she asked her softly, not wanting to embarrass her any more than necessary.
For a long, tense moment, the female simply stared at her. A long conversation seemed to go on between them with no words spoken and then she whined. With effort, she rolled on her side and presented her throat in a gesture of submission. Kneeling down, Rissa released the spell but prepared for another battle if she’d been lying. To her surprise, the female back away a few feet and then laid her head respectfully on her paws. The gleam in her eyes spoke of a test well passed and Rissa shared an odd grin with her. Oh yeah, her first impression had indeed been right. Things were not always what they seemed and she sensed that she now had someone in her court.
Getting to her feet, she eyed the other two women and then released them. When one snapped at her, Danger lept the distance and took the bitch down with ease. Standing over her, she snarled and sent the other female a challenging look. Immediately backing down, she turned tail and ran for the door. The one underneath Danger whimpered and then sulked away as soon as she was free. Rissa arched a brow at the black wolf and then smiled. It seemed she now had a beta. Wasn’t life just FULL of interesting twists.
“Well, now that THAT is over…” she said, turning back to her prized possessions. “I am in desperate need of some chocolate.”
Eying the men who were now giving both women wide berth, she rolled her eyes and found a large pan. Taking it to the fireplace, she heard rustling behind her and knew Danger was shifting back to human form. Clothing was replaced and then the woman was like a shadow at Rissa’s side. It felt strange but she instinctively trusted the woman not to jump at her back and she had no doubts that she would keep others from doing the same thing.
Talking the whole time she was melting the chocolate and peanut butter together, the blond rambled about anything and everything that came to her mind. The shifters in the area seemed to stunned and bemused by her to return anything so she simply shrugged and threw the Chrispix cereal into the mixture along with the bag of powdered sugar. Once it was all covered equally, she laughed with glee and poured it into the Ziploc bags she’d brought along just for this purpose.
Somewhere during this effort, she looked up and found that Danger had slipped away and another figure was lurking in the doorway that lead to the hallway. It was Drake, Corbin’s second in command. Her brief bid for freedom was obviously over. Evidently Danger had reported her mischief to him and he was here to escort her back to Corbin's rooms.
Sighing, Rissa reached into a bag as she sauntered towards him and held out a piece of the crispy, chocolately treat.
“Scooby snack, Mr. Drake?”
Sighing a bit pitifully, the petite blond wiggled her newly painted cotton candy toes and set the bottle aside.
