You always wanna be around me
So you know what it's like
When the world is at your feet
And you're VIP tonight
You've either you got it or you don't
And I'm sorry you won't
Get there by using me
Just go and do your own thing
Boys and girls pretend to know me, they try so hard
And I get what I want, my name is my credit card
Don't try to hate me because I am so popular
Pop, pop, popular
So you know what it's like
When the world is at your feet
And you're VIP tonight
You've either you got it or you don't
And I'm sorry you won't
Get there by using me
Just go and do your own thing
Boys and girls pretend to know me, they try so hard
And I get what I want, my name is my credit card
Don't try to hate me because I am so popular
Pop, pop, popular
Letting out a harsh breath, Rissa watched as one of her long blond locks bounced randomly on in front of her eyes. Sprawled out on the bed of furs she shared with Corbin, the pretty nymph had her chin resting on her upturned palms and an extremely bored expression on her face. Never a good thing. It boded badly for whomever came across her path next.
Normally, Rissa was a sweet natured lass with a patient nature. Unfortunately, she had a bit of a temper to go along with it and the attention span of a gnat if she wasn't fully occupied by something. this lead to unfortunate occurrences like flower petals in Drakes clothing and NAIR in various bottles of shampoo owned by shifters that irritated her. Ah, yes...Boredom tended to get the little half-ling into mischief and today was no different.
She was highly fed up with being locked away in this suite of rooms without anyone to keep her company but the growly wolves outside her door. Drake and Danger had no sense of fun and Corbin only showed up briefly when he was "checking up" on her. That and when he came to bed and romped in the furs with her. Lately though, he'd been to preoccupied for even that. It was almost enough to make the nymph wonder if he had another woman stashed away somewhere.
That thought caused a frown to cross the pretty witchs face and she rolled over on her back with a sigh. From out of nowhere, a little metalic purple dragon sprawled beside her and gave a hum of disgust.
"Mistress... why do you allow them to imprison you here? There are better ways to pass the time than counting the stones in the wall.." it said in its normal gravelly voice. "Let us do something fun.... Surely in town there are a few villians i could cook and eat!"
Raising a brow, Rissa looked over at her guardian and sighed.
"And how do you propose we get out of these rooms? I set one foot out the door and my guard dogs are going to have hissy fits and you know it. I'd just assume not get treated like a fetch toy, thank you very much...Dogs drool all over those things you know...."
Rolling its eyes, the dragon huffed and then started to pad around the room.
"Why... You have fae blood, Mistress... You can travel where ever you want with only a thought. You don't have to step outside at all. They will never even know your gone."
Blinking, Marissa sat up.
"What do you mean? Like Corbin does?"
Nodding its wide head, the creature padded back to her and eyed her up and down.
"You have vast potential that you are only beginning to unlock. Time and place travel is easy... You simply close your eyes, envision yourself in the place you want to be and.... wallah... your there."
Frowning, Rissa tapped her chin with a finger.
"Surely it can't be that simple or I would have been able to do it before now..... the gods know I've thought those sorts of things enough."
Snickering, the dragon moved forward and butted her with its muzzle.
"You know, your really are a silly humaniod at times.... Didn't you take Witch Magic 101? Geez... I think I know more about you than you do.... You have to believe in your magic first. Without real belief, it doesn't work... however, since you have summoned me... I think your getting the hang of it. After all, I am a supreme being your know..."
Eying the dragon ruefully, the petite young woman shoved him away and then had a sudden thought.
"What about you though? You cant go in dragon form... That would give us away instantly."
Smirking, the dragon arched a scaly brow and then transformed before her eyes into a sleek furred great Dane. Blinking, Rissa laughed and then nodded.
"Well.. That works I guess. Where should we go first?"
Shrugging, Drako padded to her side and leaned against her.
"I'd recommend someplace not so noticeable first off. Humans tend to freak out with someone just appears out of thin air. No sense of humor...."
Laughing, the nymph thought for a moment and then nodded.
"Your right... How about.... hmmmmmm..... The park? We could take appear behind a row of trees...'
"Sounds good to me, mistress." it returned.
Nodding, Rissa glanced at her pocket book before shrugging and picking it up. If this worked, she'd no doubt need her credit cards and money. Then, she closed her eyes with a muttered "here goes nothing" and pictured the heavily groved section of woods in the park.
Picturing the branches and inhaling the scent of the pines, she curled her toes into the soil and sighed. Wait a minute... SOIL? Eyes flying wide, she looked at her bare feet to find herself standing in the very spot she'd been picturing. Drako sat at her feet and stared at her in amusement.
"See? I told you it wasn't so hard... should listen to me more often... I might actually be more than a pretty face. "
"OH shush, dragon." Rissa retorted before peeking avidly around a tree and seeing New Orlean's city park laying in front of her. "Crap... I forgot shoes Corbin doesnt like my pointy heels and i've grown accustomed to wandering around shoeless....... Think we could get to the mall?"
Her guardian gave her a put upon look and the witch nodded.
"Silly question."
Closing her eyes once more, she pictured her favorite dressing room in Victoria secrets and flashed them both there. Oh Yeah.. This was so much better than traveling by car. She could DEFINITELY get used to it.
And so it went that the next couple hours flew by and the little nymph learned many new things about her magic. After going on a little shopping expedition, she stopped by the Pit to say hello to Lani and then bounced over to a place called SCREAMERS. Drako had hounded her all after noon so she finally gave in. Once there, though, she found the place quite to her liking. The music was loud, the beat was good and the drinks were made to perfection. What more could a girl ask for?
Settling on to a bar stool at a small table in the corner, Rissa was just finishing her second pina colada when a tall, savagely handsome man approached. His hair was black as ebony and his lean features were strangly beautiful. It was his eyes that caught and held her attention though. They glowed with a power that was beyond her comprehension and seemed to have some knowledge that made her uneasy. Something told her that she should know this man but for the life of her, she could not place him. Thinking he meant to pass by her spot, Rissa tossed back the last of her frou frou and then almost choked on it when he stopped and stared at her with his ageless eyes.
"Marissa Abigail Cearra Skye?"
Blinking rapidly, Rissa coughed until the man thumped her on the back and finally managed to croak out.
"Yes?"
Smiling darkly, the stranger sat in the chair across from her without invitation and gazed at her a long moment before answering.
"I am Adam Black..... I am your father."
Ok, so forget any sort of dignified comeback. The words that escaped Rissa were spurred purely by shock.
"You've got to be shitting me?" she fairly yelled, startling everyone around them and gaining some perturbed looks.
Realizing what she'd said, the pretty blonds hands flew up to her mouth and clapped over her lips to keep anything else untoward from escaping. Her wide eyes said it all though and she could only blame the alcohol she'd been drinking for this vivid daydream.
"Get out of town!" she finally said, whispering it at her new companion. "You can't be my father.... Wait a minute... How'd you know my name?? Names have power and I haven't given anyone my full name... Not even Corbin."
Eying him with true supposition now, the little nymph glanced at where her dragon had set only to find him gone. Blinking rapidly, she swallowed hard and glared at Mr. Black.
"Hey!!! What did you do with my dragon, Mister?? Bring him back right this minute!!"
