Now you tell me you like it You tell me you want it You're mine And you don't need another one Come on and tell me you like it Tell me you want it You're mine And another one to me
And the world will get you high It was cold, and the sprawling land before him was covered in a film of dirty snow. From atop a hill, he surveyed the wide, brown-tinged grasslands and a savage smile flitted onto his lips. Deadened, blackened trees danced with sickening cracks in the forest behind him, and red stained the snow. From beneath him, his warhorse snorted in unease, smelling death and destruction on the wind. The perfect scene for victory, he thought, not bothering to turn as the thumping of hooves came closer to him. The rolling brown hills were covered with scattered bodies; some human, some not. With a winey and the scrape of gravel on hooves, a soldier pulled up beside him, his blood covered face set in a show of respect. “My lord, we’ve pushed them back to the Palace walls,” He said, eyes averted. The rest of his army waited patiently behind them, tending to the wounded and dispatching those from the enemy camp still screaming in agony. With a brisk nod, Corbin sent his General back to the ranks behind him and started his horse forward. It had been six weeks since that fateful day in the compound, when he’d woken up to an empty bed and a note written in a familiar scrawl. When he’d fallen boneless onto the furs that night, his arms wrapped around his woman, he’d felt a strange sense of contentment. She didn’t understand his drive or his urges, and probably never would…but he’d been secure in the knowledge that, for the first time, he’d been able to let someone see that dark little soul of his. He’d thought himself healed by the light in her. He’d been wrong. For the days after her departure, he’d gone a little crazy; running rampant around his men and sending out all of his scouts to find out more about where his woman had gone off to. He’d also sent more Weres into the city in an attempt to ‘recruit’ more soldiers, and called in every favor that he had, until his army’s ranks were swelled to the breaking point. Then, one of his most trusted runners came back with news from another realm: The Fae King and Queen were gone. It was as if lightning had struck him; the sense of destiny that crashed upon him with the strength of a well aimed fist. Marissa had left him to take up her throne…why wouldn’t he do the same? He’d always known that he was meant to rule, and now that the Dark Court didn’t have a ruler… It didn’t take long before his armies were marching on the lands of the Dark Fae King. Already, factions were fighting over who would take the old ruler’s place, but it was child’s play compared to the strength of his soldiers and he quickly killed all who stood in his way. The only competitors left was some stupid upstart from the South, whose goblin armies were supposed to put fear into his heart. Little did the child know that he was fear. This land would be his, and he would rule in the blackened lands of his mother’s Court, just as Marissa Skye ruled in hers. Then, and only then, would he do what he was meant to; what his soul practically screamed for him to do. He would have his revenge on the little witch who’d hurt him so. Corbin Muunokhoi was not the forgiving sort. With a wave of his hand, he started forward, his men following close behind. They were in full battle formation, the lines seemingly spanning to the horizon. As he killed others looking to take the throne, some of the soldiers had defected to his ranks, seemingly smelling who the victor would be before the battle. Rhythmic thumping of war drums and the dull clank of armor rang out in the air, as they approached the obsidian castle. Before its walls stood their enemy; a Dark Fae who wanted what was rightfully his. He paused a half mile before them, his men stopping behind him. For a moment, they surveyed the scene before them, and Corbin savored the scent of fear that traveled on the wind. Then, with a savage cry that tore through the air, he kicked his warhorse forward. The battle raged on for hours, each side trying its best to push the other back. In the end, Corbin’s men managed to break through their enemy’s ranks, with the Fae lord himself at its helm. Smelling blood in the water, the young ursurper’s soldiers began to defect; tearing into those that they called comrades only moments before. Leaping from his horse, Corbin faced the other fae, bloody face pulled back in a snarl. Swords clashed, screams echoed, flesh met flesh… And with one clean swipe, the survivor held a severed head in his hand and presented it to his subjects. With a roar of approval, the soldiers surrounding the Palace walls sank down on one knee, recognizing the strongest among them. Corbin let out a howl that echoed over his subjects’ screams, holding the bloody head up over his own. He tilted his face up toward it, letting the blood coat his face, and tossed it to the armored men below him. With his trusted men by his side, he entered the black palace, and stormed the throne room, killing any who stood in his way. Finally, he thought with a satisfied smile. The black throne of the Dark Fae King sat before him, power slithering off of it and pooling around his feet. His stride slow, he approached the mammoth seat of power and, his cloak of skins billowing about him, he sat. “Well, it isn’t my stone throne,” He remarked to his men, who laughed in response, their deadly bright eyes alight with victory, matching his own. “But I suppose it will have to do.”

Welcome to your life There's no turning back Even while we sleep We will find you Acting on your best behavior Turn your back on Mother Nature Everybody wants to rule the world It's my own design It's my own remorse Help me to decide Help me make the Most of freedom and of pleasure Nothing ever lasts forever Everybody wants to rule the world
Life in the Fae Realm was definitely not what she had expected.
Reclined on her chaise lounge with her favorite bottle of lavender nail polish, a Vogue Magazine and her guardian curled by her feet, the new queen of the White Court wore a disgruntled expression. Her normally impish expression was set in a mulish frown and a storm cloud could almost be seen brewing above her golden head. With her newly painted feet in the air, Marissa lay on her belly and flipped through the pages of the mortal publication with barely restrained temper.
Every once in awhile she'd glance out the open balcony and sigh.
It was obvious something was bothering her but the young woman steed fastly refused to speak to anyone. In fact, every time someone attempted to approach her rooms, they usually got an icy reception that sent them scuttling for warmer places. The only one allowed within her presence for the last few weeks was her father and the various tutors he had brought in to teach her the customs and traditions of her new realm.
Not that Marissa really paid attention to the lessons.
As the days went by, it became more and more evident that the new Queen had a mind of her own and while she obviously heard the guidance they gave her.... She just didn't seem to show the proper respect due to them and the regulations they set before her.
To bad for them, Marissa really didn't give a fig for their snooty, uptight notions of behavior. If this was her court... Then she'd dang straight behave in whatever manner she chose to! If the rest of the nobles didn't like it.... Well, shes tell them where they could fly off to!
Her first afternoon in court had showed her what she could expect from the stuck up blue bloods of the Seelie Court and she'd flatly refused to cower before them as they seemed to expect. More than one of the horrifically beautiful creatures had sneered down their elegant noses at her and it had immediately had the opposite effect on her than what they wished.
Instead of subduing her... It simply pissed her off and a pissed off Rissa was a thing of wicked beauty. Determination had sparked down deep in her soul and it allowed her clear sight of the court and the creatures that inhabited it. Anger flared at what she saw and plans of retribution.
They wanted a Queen? Well, then.. A queen was EXACTLY what they were going to get. As soon as the coronation took place, she was going to set this place on its ear. No longer would the imperious have free reign over the lesser immortals. No longer would the throne turn a blind eye to the corruption of the court.
Oh No.... There were going to be changes and she couldn't WAIT to get started.
Good thing Marissa had never been one to try to win popularity contests! In the mood she was in... She honestly HOPED someone would try to get out of line. The powers within her were crackling for use and she had a whole boat load of disillusionment to work out on something or someones sorry ass.
She was, simply put, sick and tired of being used and pushed around. From now on, Rissa was determined to live up to her own wants and wishes. No longer would she pander to another's notion of how and whys. From now on? She was calling the shots and the gods help anyone who tried to stop her!
Let them take that and smoke it in their pipe!
Corbin would be so proud of her.... That was, if he wasn't so angry he probably wanted to kill her. She had no doubt he took her leaving him as a personal insult but really? What was a girl to do when her man was a raving mad man who tortured innocents? It wasn't like she could actually abide by that and let him think it was ok, right?
Sighing at those thoughts, Rissa tossed away her magazine and hopped to her feet. Walking to her balcony, she stood far above the forest floor and gazed out over her magical realm. Her bower was in a beautiful white oak and the rooms where formed of smooth wood. A stair way spiraled down the trunk of the ancient tree to the floor below and she could see the fae's moving around, setting up for the coming ceremony.
With the coming sunset, her destiny approached. No longer would she be plain Marissa Skye.
Instead, a regal Queen would be born. Yeah... RIGHT!
The sound of a sudden knock caused her to spin around and then her new serving woman and another maid were bringing in a large tub. As they set things down and Celbina turned towards her, Rissa forced a slight smile. The older woman had taken a motherly interest in her since her arrival and she was the only person besides Adam that Rissa trusted.
"Come now, lass... Its time to prepare you for your coronation! Tis not fitting for a queen to be late!"
Blowing out a long breath, the petite blond allowed herself to be pulled forward and the next couple hours was spent in eloborate preparations. The young woman found herself bathed, powered, dressed and coiffured in royal fashion before being led to stand before the huge looking glass. The woman she saw before her was a far cry from the imp that had faced down a savage war lord in the forest of the mortal realm. Instead, a poised, diginified woman stood in her place.
Gasping, Rissa reached up and touched her face and then fingered the elaborate beading of the dress.
"I... I don't know what to say..." she stammered out before Celbina waved away her thanks and gave her a quick hug.
"Now, down to the court with you, lass! Your sire awaits!'
And so it was that the new Queen of the Fae realm was whisked down to her new destiny. Time seemed to still as she took her fathers arm and was lead into the clearing of the court that was hers by right and by might if need be. The hum of voices fell silent as they entered and one by one, heads bowed. Allowing Adam to lead her forward, Rissa noted the heads that did not immediately acknowledge her status and automatically chalked them up to be dealt with at a later time.
When they reached the throne, Adam released her arm and stepped back with a reverent nod of his own. Rissa wasn't ever sure what happened after that because everything past in a blur but somehow a crown was placed on her head and a neat magical staff placed in her hand. Then, the whole Seelie court moved forward in procession to introduce themselves. It was with a sense of detachment that she was introduced to her new subjects until a suddenly familiar face loomed before her and she gasped.
"YOU!"
Suddenly the focus of all attention, Rissa felt her cheeks blush as she stared at the good looking young man before her and waited for an introduction. Silently, she cursed her outward blunder as she stared at the clothed Fae and tried to forget that she'd just recently had cause to check him out in a far less..... proper... environment. Hoping against hope that he wouldn't blurt out the same recognition, Rissa blinked up at him with blue eyes that matched his own.

Who's gonna fight for what's right? Who's gonna help us survive? We're in the fight of our lives And we're not ready to die
Who's gonna fight for the weak? Who's gonna make 'em believe? I've got a hero, I've got a hero Living in me
I'm gonna fight for what's right Today I'm speaking my mind And if it kills me tonight I will be ready to dieThe realm of mortal men was a curious place. They had such strange ways and notions that made Dalen’s head spin if he tried to absorb all of that. At times it seemed that it couldn’t be the same place his late wife had been born into, but it had been a different time then and even if it was so different from what he remembered from centuries ago, he was still haunted by memories of her from time to time. His quest for the force behind the disappearance of the queen and king of the Fae realm so far had been an utter failure and that hurt his pride. Every time he believed he had found a lead, it disappeared as smoke. Not that his trip to the mortal realm had been without adventure and wonder. It had indeed been the stuff of legends, but it was a story from another time. That moment however, troubling news from the realm had reached him. A new Seelie queen had been appointed and the Unseelie kingdom was under attack by unstoppable forces and the dark throne was about to fall for a new ruler. So it was with great regret that Dalen had decided to place his quest on hold and return to assess the new changes on the land. Closing his eyes, the warrior stretched out his senses through the veil that kept the two realms apart and willed the reality to shift through as the mortal dark streets and artificial lights gave place to the expanse of his beloved land. It wasn’t long before his faithful mount was standing before him. Brogin gently bumped its head against his arm and Dalen petted his head in return. “We’ve been apart long my friend. The troubling news reached me and I have returned to see to those new events. The fair queen is not forgotten, but this new queen must be known to me.” With a quick motion, Dalen jumped into Brogin’s back and the winged horse spread his wings and took off towards the sky in great haste towards the white palace. Long ago Dalen had pledged his allegiance to the white throne and if it now had a new occupant he needed to know if she was worth the same allegiance he had devoted the previous queen. Only a fool would follow blindly an unknown ruler. It didn’t take long before the white palace came into view. A heartwarming sight in the past days, it was now an uncertainty for the approaching fae. As the mount touched down on the ground, Dalen wasted no time jumping down and placing a thankful pat on the horse’s side. As he strode through the white gates, the fae present stood aside allowing him passage. Their eyes were wide with recognition and respect for the figure that walked amongst them after so many years of absence in the royal palace. Ignoring the murmur his presence had created amongst the court, the warrior made his way towards the throne room. But as he stopped at the threshold, his conviction was temporary stolen as he gazed at the golden haired beauty that held the crown. She was definitively not behind the previous queen in beauty…but had the same wisdom and ability to rule? That was still open to debate. Striding forward, Dalen stepped into the throne room and walked towards the woman that held the crown. However the warrior wouldn’t bow before he believed she deserved such. Silently, he kept his eyes on her and the surroundings as she seemed to be entertained with the presence of another member of the court.

The last fire will rise Behind those eyes Black house will rock Blind boys dont lie Immortal fear That voice so clear Through broken walls That scream I hear There was a pull that was undeniable. Though Kirian hadn’t thought of home since arriving in the human realm; verily now it tugged at an invisible string within him, willing him to leave the cozy womb of bodies twisted around him. The normal world was anything but. Filled to near bursting with souls needing a release from their drab, everyday lives; the fae hadn’t had to use his talents since the first few nights. The humans were hungry for stimulation; begging for it. It was a genuine buffet of pleasurable sights, sounds, sentiments. Kirian was feasting on it. And it wasn’t just the humans he was savoring. Bemused, but utterly grateful, the fae had come upon a sisterhood of nymphs that had somehow made it into the realm. Wild, licentious creatures that they were, Kirian had relished them again and again with no care how or why they had come to be here. And here now they lay tangled together; covered in a fine sheen of sweet with blankets chaotically wrapped around them. So why in Tinkerbell’s trousers was he so obstinate about getting to the Fae Realm as quickly as possible? For pixie’s sakes he should never want to leave this place! But regardless of the bewilderment, Kirian didn’t ignore it, instead slipping easily from the bed and pulling on the worn jeans and black tee-shirt, a hoodie slung over his shoulder to shield that autumnal chill that lingered even when the two suns were at the highest. He left his feet bare; too anxious to learn what the corporal call was about to care about outward appearance. Thought he hadn’t forsaken the quest to find his sister, as of late he had been too distracted to put much effort towards it. His pull, however, seemed intensely connected to it somehow; the inward connection so strong he was certain the twine being drawn was tied to another half of his being. Shifting the air around him, the shimmering portal opened behind him just as he lowered a gentle kiss on the forehead of a sleeping nymph. He hoped that she would be there upon his return, but it was a fleeting hope as the glittering swirl of altered reality sucked him into its wormhole and he arrived shaking on a cold marble floor in the middle of a sprawling, open throne room before a golden haired divinity wearing a crown. Immediately Kirian went down on a knee before his queen; so startled he did not notice the face that gazed upon his was not that of his prior sovereign. Long tousled tawny tresses fell across his cheek and he closed his eyes, cursing inwardly that he had foregone the need for shoes. As the lilting voice rang out suddenly, the fae’s brow creased in confusion. Had he made such a reputation for himself that the Seelie queen would find his mere presence repugnant? Slowly his gaze lifted to the blonde ruler and Kirian’s face glowed with recognition. A slow, impish smile stretched his lips, and a tawny brow rose in amusement. “Well, well…” The face that stared in astonishment from above him was the very same that had waved bills at his groin and made movement to stuff them in his pants. The tiara that crowned her loose tresses like a halo suggested that she had taken place in the ruling court, but the flaming cheeks confirmed the female had shared in the inequity of the human realm just as he had. Suddenly the clearing of a throat reverberated around the stilling crowd, and the fae’s silvery eyes were drawn to the unyieldingly dark gaze of his father. He stood, dumbfounded; his confused expression shifting from Adam Black to the queen. Out of the blue it became lucid, and Kirian locked gazes on those reflective azure eyes that mirrored his own. “Sister, mine?”

It doesn`t really matter Who you say you are Sing it out the windows of your car Find another girl across the bar Cause L-O-V-E`s not what this was
Names and faces swirled around her so quickly that Marissa had a headache just trying to keep up. Who had known there would be so MANY to remember. There were Sprites, Nymphs, Fairies, Pixies, elegant elves and every other sort of magical fairy tale creature imaginable. And with no exceptions... They were all BEAUTIFUL.
Damn.. It was almost enough to make a girl self conscious with all that gorgeousness!
And then... There was her father.
Man, that man SERIOUSLY needed to lighten up! For all that he was called the Prince of Mischief and Mayhem... A body sure couldn't tell it at the moment. Adam wore an expression of supreme suspicion and distrust as the gathered assembly flowed by. His features were so hard she thought they were probably crack if he smiled. It made her want to make silly faces at him until he couldn't stand it anymore. What harm was a bit of laughter anyways? It wasn't a crime, for petes sake!
Then again... his half mortal, half fae daughter was taking the throne and there were those who weren't entirely happy with that fact. Maybe he had a point! Rissa decided that the better part of valor probably would be to ignore his glowering and continue on with all this pomp and ceremony stuff. No sense in starting off her rule on the completely wrong foot right?
Never mind that she was wearing her comfy tennis shoes underneath all this silk and satin so she could make a break for it if the need struck her. Damn, maybe she really SHOULD have taken up marathon running.
Pushing away the longing for her peaceful existence on the mortal plane, Rissa made sure her expression was dutiful as the throng flowed and ebbed. From the corner of her gaze, she caught sight of a gorgeously handsome man approaching and turned her head fractionally to observe him. He didn't bow or cater to her like the others did and there was something in his eyes that made her own brows shoot up. Was this another one of her objectors? That was really to bad.. He was such a good looking devil.
Then, her attention was jerked back to the presence of her father and another goldenly handsome man before her. The recognition she'd had a moment before was reflected there but his own words made her blink in confusion.
"Sister? Uhhhhhhhhhhh..... I only have one brother... and hes mortal...."
Turning slightly, Rissa stared at Adam in bemusement.
"Right? This guy...." she stammered, pointing at the young man who she now knew as a Fae. "PLEASE TELL ME HE ISN"T MY BROTHER!!!"
Adam had the grace to blush just a bit before nodding.
"I'm afraid, lass... that he is. This is your brother Kirian.... I wasn't sure he would make it back in time for your coronation or I would have mentioned him."
Then, frowning, he looked back and forth between them.
"But how is it you know each other?"
Glupping hard, Rissa blinked rapidly and then turned beet red. Flushing with mortification, she put her hands on her hips and her chin went up in anger.
"HOW??? HOW DO I KNOW HIM??? FATHER!!! HE WAS POSING AS A STRIPPER!!! HAVING NO IDEA HE WAS MY BROTHER..... AND BEING WITH FRIENDS..... OH DEAREST ABADDON!!!"
The petite blond suddenly couldn't go on. With a helpless motion between herself and the grinning blond who's eyes matched her own, she suddenly growled and threw up her hands. Wanting to thump her head into something, Rissa turned away and started to stomp down the grassy aisle towards freedom. She felt like such and idiot and to remember where she'd ALMOST stuffed that money.... It was to much for her to bear.
"Ceremonies over, peeps! This Queen is outta here!!!"
Damn it... Where the hell was Corbin when she needed him? At this point, she might even let him eat her if it would save her the embarrassment of this moment!
From behind her, Marissa heard her fathers voice but she ignored it as she stormed for the entrance of the woodland court clearing.
"By all the fires of Abaddon... HOW DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME??"

There were just some things in life that were worth living for, and the frightened faces of his defeated enemies were definitely high on the list. Half sitting and half laying on his new ebony throne- he still declared that his rock on the human plane was better- he lazily gazed down at the captured generals still loyal to the head now perched outside on a rotted pike. There was still some more battles to be fought to secure his place in this dark little realm, but they were skirmishes at best. His own generals could easily take care of them and report back to him. They knew what would happen if they came to his throne room with bad news, after all. The only thing that had changed was the location of his stronghold. His soldiers would defeat the pitiful Fae’s that had squabbled and fought for power in the Realm. Really, he would have expected more from the Dark Fae’s, from all of the rumors he’d heard. His mother was probably rolling around in her grave right now…and speaking of which, he wondered if she had a grave here. A sudden pang of something he couldn’t recognized shot through his chest and he frowned. Instinctively, he turned, a question on his lips…but the familiar face normally smiling at him from his side was nowhere to be found. Ah yes, his witch had betrayed him and run off to play Queen. It was almost painful to remember, but he would grow used to the memory. And he would have his revenge. The two Fae’s were forced to kneel at his feet. One gave him a look of utter defiance, while the other cowered on the floor, his mind locked with fear of what was to come. Death, dismemberment, or worse; the squirming man had probably dealt punishment to others and never had to deal with the pain himself. A nasty smile fell onto his lips at the thought of being the shaking man’s first. “Do what you want to us, but you will not break us!” The defiant one exclaimed, at the same time as the man beside him declared that he would be loyal to Corbin if he would spare his life. Turning to his second in command, Corbin took his sword and held it blade out, in between his two prisoners. That snarled smile made his face a mask of cruelty, and the smell of piss and fear rolled in waves. He basked in it for just a moment, then lifted his arm and struck. Surprise was etched onto the once defiant Fae’s face as his comrade’s head came rolling to a stop at his knees. Cleaning his sword with the hem of his second’s shirt, he turned back to the shocked general. “Do you know what I did that?” He asked, his voice cool and measured. When the general shook his head, he grinned. “Because I have no use for weak willed men willing to defect to save their own skins. You will become a soldier in my army, General. You will become as loyal to me as you were to the previous King.” Moving closer, he slapped a hand on the soldier’s shoulder and helped him to his feet when his bindings were removed. “And we will make a game out of your hatred for me; you and I. You will try to kill me and take my throne, and I will run the maze with you.”He smiled when the Dark Fae’s face broke into an amused smile. “Indeed, my lord,” He man said, hand grasping his new King’s wrist in a warrior’s shake. “You are fit for this throne…for now.”Laughter rang through the room, startling the Were’s who stood guard there. Before anything more could be said, however, the doors burst open and a scout hurried in, falling to his knees before his ruler. “My lord, I have news of happenings in the Light Court, as you requested” The Were said breathlessly. “There is a coronation to happen today, ushering in the new Queen of the Light Fae.”Yet another unrecognizable emotion fluttered inside him, in his belly this time. Was it the warm pull of rage? The smoky haze of disappointment or pride? Or was it the wiggle of excitement at the knowledge that his witch was so close? …No, it had to be rage. Marissa Skye was no longer ‘his witch,’ now. She couldn’t accept who he was; refused to. They were enemies now. Which made the thought of crashing her little party all the more appealing. With yet another nasty smile at his newly appointed general, he tilted his head in a mockingly curious way. “Is it customary for all royal bloodlines to attend the coronation of a new Queen?”A similarly evil smile slid onto his newest general’s face. “Why, yes, my lord, it is.”And off they went to the lands of the Light Court; him, on his red eyed, angry stallion, Drake at his side, and his fellow Dark Fae flanked by a few Were’s taking up the rear. The happy, light-ridden Fae’s in the wood gasped and shook in fear at their approach, and Corbin couldn’t help but chuckle at the pleasure he felt. None too soon, they reached the crystalline palace of the Light Queen. He had about a dozen things in mind that he wished to say to the newest royal in the realm; declarations of war, raging insults, threats…but he the chance to say them never came. It was almost as if she were running toward him, he thought absently, eyes on the figure moving toward the wood like Hell was on her heels. Kneeing his horse into a canter, he soared over the green valleys and pulled up sharply right in front of her, forcing her to screech to a halt. “That would probably be because you invite them, Majesty,” He said, looking down at her with his cruelest smile. His bloodstained armor glowed in the sunlight, and given the fact that he’d just pulled out of war, he made a gruesome sight. With a mocking bow from his saddle, he regarded the woman before him with a mask of contemtment, when inside, his guts were a tangle of emotion. “Congratulations on your…ascension, my Queen,” He said smoothly. “You deserve the position, I’m sure.”

Leaning over you here Cold and catatonic I catch a brief reflection Of what you could and might have been It's your RIGHT and your ability To become my perfect enemyFor all the years Drake had spent living as one with the creatures of the wild, his mind for understanding the events and sentiments of humanity…he was as if a teenager at best, confuse and instinctive. When Marissa had departed the camp, something inside him had made him want to follow her just so he could flee with her. Danger had told him what was this thing he felt for the woman, desire. It was something that confused him since he’d feel the same spark towards Danger even if her had turned him down. The two women were so maddening different. There was fear in his heart when he imagined Corbin would know of such betrayal flirted with his second desires. Not only for the gruesome fate he’d know he’d meet at Corbin’s hands, but because Drake actually looked up to him for guidance on this confuse world. Corbin had welcomed him when everyone had cursed him, had accepted him and given him a purpose. No, he couldn’t betray him. Not even when he saw the madness swirl into Corbin’s eyes. Even then, Drake remained the faithful soldier and showed no fear or lack of conviction. He fought savagely besides his lord in the battle that followed, claiming many of the lives of their enemies. His doubts were many. Was he on the right side? Should he have followed the flowery scented witch when she fled? But when there were axes moving for his neck and swords aimed at his head, there was no time for second guessing or he would be dead. The enemy didn’t offer him the courtesy of asking him if he was sure of his allegiances, and when the battle was under way, there was no turning back. It was no surprise that victory was theirs. Even rampaging mad, Corbin was a master strategist and his arm was as lethal as loyal. Standing silently as the new king interrogated his prisoners, a feral growl departed his throat as he witnessed the coward switch his allegiances out of fear. He was ready to jump at the coward when his lord’s stare silence him and he watched the outcome that took place. Before long however, things took an unexpected turn when they took off towards the white castle where Marissa would be. Drake felt that sickening pain into his chest as he picked up that familiar floral scent. With worried eyes, he silently watched the exchange between the new king and queen, unsure of what to do.

From his position on the edge of the room, Dalen watched the events that unfolded before his eyes. The face of the new queen was as beautiful and unfamiliar to him. At her side stood Adam Black, the fae’s face wasn’t unfamiliar to him but the two of them weren’t what he’d consider friends. There seemed to be some measure of respect between them, the loyalty they had shared for the queen, but that was about it.
They had never shared a few pints on a tavern, rode together or fought side by side. Even if Dalen was an honored warrior in the realm, he didn’t have the habit of standing with the royalty and their entourage. He was honor bound, yes. But his honor bounded him to the throne, not the woman seating on it. For this new queen to have his undying allegiance like the former had, she would have to prove herself to be a wise and just ruler. So for now the warrior was content in only observe and be silent. He had the impression she had looked his way, but even if she did, her interest had just been a passing one, unlike the one she was giving the fae standing right in front of her.
It wasn’t long before the pieces started to fall into place.
The young queen was Adam’s daughter, and the blonde haired fae was her brother…even if that obviously came as a shock to her.
Did…did he just hear it right? Was the queen’s brother a stripper and she had watched him unknowingly they were related.
Dalen wasn’t aware if he should be shocked at the fact or if it would be too improper to burst into laugh.
But then the queen took off in a run and the warrior followed from afar with silent steps he watched until she stopped running and was about to approach her when a dark warrior with bloody armor approached her. His words were polite, but they were filled with obvious malicious intent.
Letting his presence be known, Dalen rushed forward and drew his blade, thrusting it towards the other warrior’s neck and stopping just short of severing his head.
“You may show the proper respect to the queen!” he demanded as he eyed fiercely the other warrior and the blonde soldier besides him that growled.

Cry little sister (thou shall not fall) Come come to your brother (thou shall not die) Unchain me sister (thou shall not fear) Love is with your brother (thou shall not kill)The tawny haired fae was struck by a torrent of emotions; the most powerful surge being elation; finally gazing into the face of his long lost sibling. Kirian let out a bemused and slightly awestruck chuckle, his eyes softening as the burden of regret weighed heavily on his chest. He imaged the young queen as a wild haired and barefoot imp, scampering gleefully through the glens with another blonde scamp; himself as a childe. That careless youth had been stolen from them, and Kirian mourned the loss of it. Taking a knee once more, the male lowered his head in reverence, wondering if there was any chance that she would allow him the chance to make up for that lost time and the first impression he had made before her. Now that she was their Sovereign, would she have the time or the inclination to get to know him? Silvery blue eyes slid to his father, Adam Black, and he felt yet another pang, envy, for it was obvious that he and Marissa shared a special bond that Kirian had never been given the opportunity to form. He clenched his hand in a fist and brought it up to his heart, closing his eyes as he bowed low in respect, for the both of them. Rissa’s outburst stirred the fae, and he rose to find her back moving away from him; that white blonde hair whipping furiously like waves in a golden sea. His attention was drawn to yet another, a dark haired male that held himself as a warrior, who had moved to follow the queen even before he had. All eyes and gasps were deflected to the arrival of a group of shadowy new arrivals, the most compelling being a dark fae with eyes that sparked with shades of malice. Kirian stopped short as the wicked aura of the russet haired male hit him like a wave of cold. He was at his father’s side, just behind his sister, his gaze widening in protectiveness and confusion when the warrior drew a sword to his throat. “What the hell is going on? Who are you?” He demanded of Corbin, aware of his power, but not daunted by it when it was likely he meant harm to the sister he’d just met.

Define your meaning of war To me it's what we do when we're bored I feel the heat comin' off of the blacktop And it makes me want it more Because I'm hyped up out of control If it's a fight, I'm ready to go I wouldn't put my money on the other guy If you know what I know that I know
It's been a long time coming And the table's turned around 'Cause one of us is going One of us is going down I'm not running, It's a little different now 'Cause one of us is going One of us is going down Well, he sure had to hand it to the Light Court; they definitely knew how to throw a welcome party. Were those angry faces? Fear in the air? Distrust, confusion and surprise? Ah, it was enough to make him lean back and sigh in pleasure. He was really going to like this ‘King of the Dark Realm’ deal. Though a sword proceeded to caress his neck and a melee of angry voices surged through the air, he kept his attention on the only person that mattered; his Queen. He was confused by the sudden surge of emotion that tore through his chest upon seeing her, and was irritated at how quickly his vengeful rage seemed to die down. He was getting soft, that was the only way to explain it. Either she had cast one of those Light Fae spells on him, or he had finally lost his edge. He knew, knew that letting her get so damn closed to him would be a mistake! But her laugh, that mischievous twinkle in her eyes, the way her body moved under his…it was intoxicating. It battled at the darkness in his mind and introduced him to a world of sunlight. Then again, now that he was the King of Darkness, that would become a problem, wouldn’t it? But hells if he could make his body realize that fact, as his eyes took in her shapely form through the flowing white coronation gown. A nasty smile curled his lips as he finally looked down the blade at his neck, meeting Dalen’s angry gaze. Well, well…didn’t the witch inspire all kinds of loyalty, and only in her first few weeks on the job! He liked to think that he was the reason why; with the way he ran his compound. But no, his deceptive Queen would never maim a soldier, would she? Pity. He could imagine she looked delectable covered in blood. “What loyalty,” He practically purred at the man, leaning into the blade. A sharp sting followed the motion, and with a howl of appreciation inside his mind, he felt the warm trickle of blood fall down his neck. The pain would keep him grounded; keep him from leaping at the soldier and tearing him to pieces, as he so wanted to. Not even the natural light coming from the gathered fae’s could stop the gnashing teeth inside his mind. Smirking down at the stranger, he finally leaned to the opposite side, away from the sword. “I would attempt to steal you away to my Court, but I doubt you’d last long amongst my men.” He went on, eyes flickering to the next man who spoke. Immediately upon seeing him, Corbin’s smile faded slightly, a calculating look in his eyes. He looked similar to the witch…but no, she’d never mentioned a second brother. He would have to send Baden in for information later. With a hiss of steal, the Fae in question urged his horse closer with a sideways look of disgust at the others in his party. Keeping his sword level, Baden glared at the Fae holding a blade to his new lord’s throat. “You will remove your weapon, sir, and show the King of the Unseelie Court the respect owed to his station!”What a show, Corbin thought with a sideways glance at his companion. The other Fae didn’t take his eyes off of the other man, but it was obvious that he wasn’t the only one enjoying their little meeting. Perhaps now was a good time to start that war of his, he thought idly, turning back to Dalen with a little raise of his brows. Without turning, he spoke to the next voice that piped up. “I believe that should answer your question, boy,” With his beastly horse shifting beneath him, the Dark Fae finally returned his attention to the Queen, a sardonic smile sliding onto his lips. “I finally have my kingdom, my love…and you have yours. Care to see which one is stronger?”

Get on your knees and let the games begin Bow to your queen and I will crown your head 'Cause I can make you every inch a king Before I do tell me, tell me what's in it for me?
And just when Rissa thought things couldn't POSSIBLY get any worse.... The fates prove, once again, just how much of an idiot she could be.
Tinks panties, she must really have done something bad in a former life the way she kept having "PAID" stamped on her ass.
In the process of her head long flight from the Seelie court itself, the petite young woman charged straight out of one danger and smack into a whole nother kettle of fish. Paying no heed to where she was going, the new queen had but one thing in mind as she ran through the grassy knoll.
She wanted the heck out of dodge.
She didnt' care what the other fae thought of her at the moment and she wasn't about to stick around and find out what other little surprises might be waiting for her. All she wanted was a private moment away from the hoopla where she could think and get a breath of air.
Enough was enough and she was in need of a vacation. Preferably a long one on a sandy beach somewhere with fruity drinks and hot cabana boys to run coconut oil all over her skin.
Hey, a girl could DREAM right?
RIGHTTTTTTTTTTT. Like any of hers had been coming true recently? Maybe it was best just to be more realistic and hope for a nice bag of dark chocolate truffles. That might actually happen if she could bribe Marty with his Dragon Heart DVD.
Then, a hairs breath before she ran smack dab into the side a big gigantic snorty thing, Rissa looked up and squeaked out a yelp. Falling backwards a few steps, she stared at the man upon the horse and blinked.
Well Hell... There went her great escape. What the hell was Corbin doing here and why was she so happy to see him? He obviously wasn't happy to see her if the sneer he wore was any indication and that devil was on his back.
She was so SCREWED and not in the kind of way that was hot, sweaty and entirely pleasurable for all involved.
Oh Yesh.. Not only was she forced to deal with a whole new race of creatures looking up to HER for leadership..She ran right into the very object of all her mid afternoon moonings and damned if he didn't look good enough to eat. Well, minus all the dirt... and armor.. and blood... OK, so maybe he was in desperate need of a bath but that still didn't seem to matter to her libido by the way her pulse was suddenly racing and she wanted to throw herself into strong arms that she knew could whisk her away without a second thought.
GET A GRIP, SKYE!
And then he opened his mouth. Thank God for Corbins ability to bring out the brat in her. He had a way of provoking her like no other and this time... Time time she didn't even attempt to disguise her disgruntlement.
"OH PLEASE!! Don't sit up there and pretend to be all Mr. Pleasantries." she retorted at him. "And wait a minute... What the hell are you doing here anyways?"
Before he could respond, however, a rush of feet behind her signaled the arrival of others and she cast a glance over her shoulder only to yelp once more as swords got brandished. Blinking rapidly at the steal blade, Rissa glanced beyond it to the shapeshifter standing nearby and sighed.
Well, well.. The gang was all here, huh?
Giving the wolf a little wave, the blond acknowledge him with a brilliant smile before turning her thoughts back to the problem at hand. As insults and threats were hurled back and forth, Marissa rubbed her temples and then let out a growl of her own. In the moments it took to put the pieces together, the petite little nymph recalled the prophecy that her father had told her about. Suddenly, it all made sense but that didn't mean she didn't do some teeth grinding as the knowledge hit home.
NO FREAKING WONDER SHE'D ALWAYS BEEN ATTRACTED TO CORBIN!
“Neither court shall exist without the other. Light balances dark even as the day balances the night.”
Oh yeah.. she was so screwed if that meant what she thought it meant. Either that... or maybe she was really really lucky.. She'd have to contemplate that at a later date, however. Right now, she needed to put the kiddies in time out.
Storming forwards suddenly, Rissa slapped swords and blades away until she stood between them all with her hands on her hips. Tapping one foot impatiently and looking very put out, the new Queen looked from first one to another before letting out a loud growl. Vaguely, she was aware of Corbin's horse trying to crowd her and she smacked its head as it reached around to take a bit out of her arm.
“ALL RIGHT! THAT IS ABOUT ENOUGH OF THIS! Proper protocol says that the Dark king and his followers are allowed at court for royally proceedings but they have no powers. They lost those the moment they stepped over into my kingdom and you all know that even better than I do. Lets be good boys and girls and play nice now, shall we?”
Aiming a look that threatened dire punishments to anyone of her followers that defied her, she turned back to glare up at the man on the rude horse.
“AND YOU!!! Is this your little temper tantrum because you were outwitted by a female?”, she accused, barely moving out of the way as the nasty beast turned its head and tried to bit her again. “Because my Lord Dark and Rabid... You didn't exactly give me any choice now did you?”
Suddenly tiring of the beast's ill behavior and its rider's disinterest in disciplining the horse, Rissa nabbed a nearby soldiers sword and used the pommel to pop the annoying creatures hindquarter. It immediately squealed and she handed the sword back to the dark haired soldier before wiping her hands off and starting around the beast.
“If thats all you wanted then you can just get happy in the same pants you got mad in. Don't come riding in here and thinking you can just take over because you've got another thing coming, My Lord Vadar. The force is STRONG in this one... It is It Is! Now, I believe You know where the gateway is between our lands so you can ride out on the same horse you rode in on and don't bother coming back until you have something more interesting to say.”
Then, with total disregard for the light and dark fae alike surrounding her... Marissa Abigail Skye headed for that piece of chocolate she was desperately needing before she killed someone.

Dalen could remember the words of the fair queen when she gave him his swords as a reward for his services. “This sword is filled with white magic, forever it is bound to you, light as a feather in your hands only, it can cause no harm to the noble of intent and pure of heart.” It had been an useful tool to avoid trickery and ill from deceitful opponents. If his target had a good heart and meant no harm, his blade wouldn’t dare to cut through the flesh but instead would pass straight through as if made from wind. The fact that blood dripped from the warrior’s neck, it served to make even obvious the malicious intent of his words.
Not faltering or stepping back when the warrior made a show of allowing the blade to pinch his skin, Dalen remained defiant, ready to slice his neck if needed be.
His eyes only left his target for a mere second to steal a look at the blonde growly warrior standing next to the dark fae. This one looked at the white queen with something akin to lust in his eyes before turning and growling in defense of the dark lord, it had been a mere flash for a mere second, and he wondered if the queen or the blonde’s leader had noticed it.
But when another voice sounded, Dalen was aware of this one and knew his name. Baden, with the dark king missing, he was one who would probably have a call for the throne. Seeing him standing beside a mere usurper seemed pitiful to say the least.
“My allegiance to the white throne does not extend towards the dark throne Baden. Neither my loyalty is easily swayed as yours seems to be.”
There was reprobation in his tone for the fae’s alliance, he would have expected more from the general and rather die than bow before the usurper.
The next events seemed to happen all at once and Dalen was reduced to a mere spectator as words were traded between the king and the queen and events unfolded.
Placing his sword back on its hilt, he remained silent but vigilant at the moves of the members of the dark court.
(Sorry for shortness, Drake's part is also included in this post)

Boy? Had the new Unseelie king just called him a boy? Kirian didn’t know whether to bow in reverence or bend at the belly with laughter, so he opted just to bend, stifling the chuckle behind a smile. “So it seems, Dark Sovereign. Perhaps now that you have the kinghood you can afford a hairbrush.” He prodded him with a teasing grin as he rose; perfect white teeth flashing as his silvery eyes went from the ominous male to his sister; He could practically see the spiritual electricity between them. What was this? Past love…or perhaps, a very recent betrayal? It was clear by the heat his sibling was throwing off there was still passion between them. Oh the drama. Kirian could just bathe in its warmth and opulence. He turned his attention to the gathered, now fallen still and silent with wide stares. “The gravity is too heavy in here. This is supposed to be a celebration!” Kirian complained and then followed quickly after her sister with a guffaw echoing in the silence of the court. He found her at the buffet of divine foods, a smooth, pale hand reaching for a slice of devil’s food cake. He dare not bow in reverence, he’d seen what that bit had invitedbefore; hello tantrum, so instead the handsome fae followed suit, picking up a plate of the dessert too. “I’ve always found these kinds of revelries to be oppressive. They don’t’ come close to the fun you can have in the mortal realm, do they sister, mine.” And there was that teasing glint in his azure reflection; the mirror of her eyes. He took a bite of the cake and chewed; his mouth still half full when he started speaking again. “I have to admit, I wondered why you didn’t feel a single thing when you saw me strip at that female club. Well, other than wonder at my perfect form, of course.” The tawny haired fae smirked and swallowed the mouthful. “Can we make a pact, your high and mightiness? If I promise to hold back the lot of them with my sword and my charm, will you introduce me to one or two…or…all of your friends?”

There were some things about the human world that he loathed, and television was one of them. Every single time he’d flipped on the damn thing at his soldiers’ insistence, there had been some stupid, fantastical scenario playing across the small screen; teenage children beating monsters, talking animals, and sappy romances that would never happen in the real world. Yet, despite all of this, there was a saying that he seemed to fight the need to use:
OH NO SHE DIDN’T!
Gods…he even wanted to use that annoying head bop as well. He really had been fond of the fiery witch, to want to use her own colloquialisms against her.
While Corbin sat atop his horse- who was now snorting and pawing restlessly, after a particularly unfair punch- looking like he was ready to explode, Baden threw the Light Fae knight a toothy smile. The man didn’t think it was in their Code to so easily change his allegiance? So like a light dweller, he thought with a smirk, to think so narrowly.
As if he were actually loyal to a child such as the new Dark King, he thought with a small raise of his brows, the look meant to silently inform Dalen of that very fact. The only person that Baden was loyal to was himself, and once Corbin had either earned the hatred of the people of their realm, or turned his back in the right way, he would get what he deserved.
A knife right through that thick skull of his. As if an usurper had any business taking his previous lord’s thrown.
Ignoring everyone else, Corbin slid from his mount and charged after the retreating Queen. The others gasped and shouted for him to decist, but he couldn’t stop if he’d tried. Damn her, for cutting through his authority like that! Damn her for calling him names in front of his own men!
And damn her for reminding him how much he wanted her. Damn, damn, damn!
Ignoring the haughty fae and his insults concerning grooming methods, he followed those retreating white robes into the throne room. He paused for a millisecond, blinking at the brightness that the lights gave off, momentarily blinded. There was such a sense of…goodness, here. It seemed to sink into him, to touch that dark part of himself and mingle, until he felt almost at peace. Confused, he paused, ignoring the scandalized gasps and the hiss of swords being drawn, as those in the Court prepared to defend themselves against the invading dark faes.
Peace…comfort…a sense of rightness. How intriguing…
But he never got the chance to analyze the thoughts, as those impish footsteps rang through his ears. Fists clenched, jaw taught and face a mask of anger and intent, he caught the woman as she reached a table piled with food. That annoying child was prattling to her about friends, but she wouldn’t get the chance to answer him just yet.
They had business to attend to, the Queen and himself.
“How DARE you undermine my authority in front of my men in that way!” He bellowed, spinning her around roughly. “And you will NOT call me such names again! More interesting things to say?! THAT IS HOW YOU WOULD TALK TO ME, AFTER YOUR BETRAYAL?!”

I tell myself that you're are no good for me I wish you well but desire never leaves I could fight this to the end But maybe I don't wanna win I breathe you in again Just to feel you underneath my skin Holding onto the sweet escape Is always laced with a familiar taste of poison
Had she REALLY shaved her legs for THIS?
Marissa couldn't the train wreck this moment had turned into. It was bad enough to be brought to the realization that she'd drooled over her own brothers body but to have Corbin show up too? Not only show up but to look at her with such disgust that she ended up feeling like something off the bottom of his shoe?
It was simply to much for her to bear. A girl could only be expected to deal with so much, right? The whole fiasco had turned on its head and she was seriously wishing someone would have drown her in her bathwater this morning. Honestly, the moment couldn't get much worse, could it?
Anything had to be an improvement from this.
It called for some major intervention and she spotted just the thing as she spied the refreshments. Hurrying her steps, the new queen nabbed a glass of something bubbly on her way past the drink table and gave the attendant a look that just dared him to say anything. Raising it to her lips, she guzzled it back and shoved the tulip shaped goblet at a passing servant. The drink hit her hard and a warm fire blazed through her gut even though it had tasted like some sort of peach concoction. Tilting her head, she stepped backwards and grabbed yet another glass before heading for the cake table where all sorts of yummy concoctions were waiting. With every step, she took another drink and her worries seemed to float out of her head.
Wow... Maybe there WAS some benefits to this world after all!!
Reaching the table, she was just about to pluck up a piece of decadent chocolate when the sound of a voice rang out beside her. Blinking rapidly, she swirled to in time to see her new "Brother" joining her and heard his joking words. Her own reply was a snort and a pop of chocolate into her mouth.
"You aint a whistling Dixie there, Dude. All this pomp and circumstance... Its enough to give a person ulcers... "she mumbled before tossing back the remainder of her drink. "I don't give a fairy fart what they all think.... I will not be something I'm not and if they don't like it...... Well, Don't let the branches hit you where the good lord splitcha on the way out!"
However, before she could get anymore than that out, a strong arm shot out and she was spun around to face a very, VERY angry fae. With her head swirling, she could only stare at him in bemusement for a moment before her own temper set sail.
Tinks panties.. She was tired of everyone trying to push her around. What did she look like? Some sort of human puppeteer doll? Maybe one of those ventriloquist things? Well, they all had another thing coming.... And Corbin was the perfect person to start on.
"Now you just wait a minute right there, MISTER!" she fired up at him. Raising up on her tiptoes, she put her face right into his and returned his glower heat for heat. "Just back that pony up, buddy, cause you've deliberately forgotten a few pertinent details! It wasn't ME who betrayed YOU! YOU PUT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A FREAKING WAR!!!! YOUR ACTIONS MADE ME A PAWN IN A GAME THAT I HAD NO UNDERSTANDING OFF. BECAUSE OF YOU.... I MIGHT HAVE BEEN KILLED....I MIGHT STILL BE KILLED!! DO YOU HONESTLY THINK YOUR ENEMIES WOULDN'T"T HAVE TRIED TO DO AWAY WITH ME? DO YOU HONESTLY THINK NONE OF THE WERE'S IN YOUR COMPOUND HADN"T? BECAUSE, BABY CAKES.... THEY TRIED!! SEVERAL DAMNED TIMES!! I DON"T WANT TO LIVE UNDER THE THREAT OF DEATH EVER DAMNED DAY JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT TO PILLAGE AND MURDER!!!"
Shoving hard at him, Marissa allowed a zip of power to flow through her hands and he reeled backwards from the effects. However, the new white queen was not through and she went after him. As she did, the clouds gathered over head and lightening flashed through the sky.
"And another thing, King Moody, I'm not your bitch and I don't have to do what you say just because you proclaim it law. I'm not your pretty little toy to have when its convenient and shove into a nice little cell when its not. I'm worth hell of a lot more than that and if you aren't capable of handling a woman who is just as strong as you are.... Well then... Thats your own god damned problem." she stormed at him, poking him hard in the chest now to dig each sentence home. "And you know what?? This is MY COURT! Don't you dare come in here and threaten me. You have no power here .. nor will you ever. I AM QUEEN OF MY OWN CASTLE and I will NEVER accept the disrespect you have shown me with your disgust and temper. It is not I who have undermined your authority, love... You've done that all by yourself by coming in here thinking that will bow down and cower like some silly little twit!!!"
By the time she'd finished, a full summer storm was whipping around the glenn. As rain fell in torrents and thundered boomed so loud it shook the ground, Marissa's eyes glowed with all the powers of the universe. Seemingly unaware of the forces of natures battling around them, she tossed her head and practically bared her teeth at him.
"You might be the new Unseelie King.... but you can only claim that throne completely by my agreeing to have you as my mate. Tradition dictates that the Seelie and UnSeelie Court be ruled with balancing powers but I refuse to let my future be settle by such old fashioned customs. Your actions today and the declaration of war are just a few of my reasons for not hooking pony to your wagon...."she said hotly, before putting her hands on her hips. "In short, in case your having trouble following? You can take your high handed attitude and park it where the bees don't buzz cause we don't have anything more to talk about!"
