Before we begin with the rules, there are a few things we’d like to get out of the way at the very beginning. These rules are a BINDING factor in your relationship with the administrators and players of this board. The topics discussed here are NOT up for debate and if you should choose to play here, you will be expected to follow them carefully and respect each other. This is not stated to sound mean or controlling but to avoid any future conflicts over how the rules apply to each and every player and how things will be carried out. We, as the staff, will make every attempt to be fair and impartial but our word is FINAL. By creating an account, you are signifying your intent to follow our guidelines and the desire to be involved with our community. Any failure to do so will lead to appropriate actions on our part and could lead to restrictions or even banning.

COMMANDMENT THE FIRST

We in the Realm of Shadows are intermediate to advanced. This means that literacy is required and forms of writing such as “chatspeak,” “script” and “the two sentence post” will not be tolerated. Think of your high school writing teacher. Would he/she tolerate a sentence without any kind of punctuation that went on for a paragraph and not have any kind of connection or spelling corrections and if spoken would make the speaker pass out from lack of oxygen?

The Staff holds within their lovely fingers the ability to ask you to leave, and you will do so without question, or face the wrath of their anger.

[/color]Thou shalt not use the powers of thy specie to rule the Realm
Only the Dark Fae Corbin is allowed to that…or, at least, to ATTEMPT to rule the Realm. Those who value the code of God-moding, Mary-sueing, or other such despicable means of writing will be banished without hesitation. [/center]

Yes, the Staff knows that each character represents a sentient being beyond the words. However, we ask that you do not reflect personal views that will result in argument. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated, be it concerning gender, religion, race, sexual orientation or politics. We are in the business of fighting the wars of the Realm, and not that of personal politics.

[/color][/center]Thou shalt not use other character applications that is not the skeleton provided
We appreciate your need to be creative, but it makes life easier for everyone if your character application matches those already accepted on the site. The graphics are beautiful, your character is beautiful…why not match the two up and make another Brangelina baby?

[/color][/center]Thou shall use the faces of actors, actresses and known models for thine creations
For Play-By’s (PB) please use actors, actresses and known models for your characters and fight the urge to use anime, drawings or other cartoon depictions. Faces off of deviantart, photobucket or other sites are copyrighted and promise problems in the future.
Also, signatures MUST be under the 500 x 300 pix size. All others will be warned once and then deleted. Anything to big causes the board to load slower and some people have enough trouble viewing! We appreciate your cooperation on this matter or permission to get eaten will be granted.

The Staff has taken the time and energy to review your application for admittance. If you will not be staying within the Realm, please do not put up an application. If you will be leaving, away on vacation, or taking a hiatus, please let us know so that we will not archive your character unwittingly.

PB’s are claimed after characters are accepted. If writers are absent for an extended period of time, their PB’s will be put on reserve in the chance that they return. The Staff holds the right to judge how long they will be reserved, based on the writer’s reason for leaving.
PB’s will also be reserved for adoptables. These PB’s are subject to change, but the owner of the particular adoptables must be informed. headswillroll is the password for unlocking the application.
PB’s can also be reserved for characters under construction, if the Staff is informed beforehand. Please, refrain from changing your character’s face without consulting a Staff Member.

This is to prevent one player from making twenty characters who have not seen the light of a thread, and who then leaves for one reason or another, thus abandoning twenty accounts to the frustration of the Staff.
NOTE: Although we think it should be common sense, we are putting this little note in. If this is your first character, we request you make them a fairly normal character and not apply immediately for a powerful position. Once we are assured of your abilities then you are more than welcome to make another but to save us all headaches in the long run.... We request that you follow this small rule!
