To ensure that common sense rules the Realm, the Staff asks that characters have as many weakness as they do strengths. This also falls under the category of God-moding, but we felt it necessary to cover it here, as well.
Supernatural beings such as Vampires, Were-creatures, shape shifters, and Demi-Gods are welcome, but we ask that your characters not be able to kill everyone around it with one blink of an eyeball. As such, we will list the powers of the main players here. This list does not include ALL of the possible character types that will be accepted, however! We encourage imagination, but for those looking to create a character that falls under the species categories, please adhere to these rules
Do not hesitate to contact a Staff Member with any questions you may have! We don’t bite!

Vampires –
Possible Strengths:
• Levitation
• Hypnotism (think Dracula Dead and Loving It, not ‘I will take over the world and make you all my slaves’)
• Above-Human strength
• Advanced healing abilities
Possible Weaknesses:
• Sunlight (the degree depends on the age…sparkle and die)
• The need for blood
• Silver

Shifters/Weres –
THIS SPECIES WILL BE GUIDED FROM THE WERE HUNTER SERIES BY SHERRILYN KENYON!
Shifters: Beings who have been BORN with the ability to shift into the form of an animal. This includes but is not limited to wolves, big cats, jackals, foxes, birds of prey and yes, we are accepting DRAGONS. But please, PLEASE, do not abuse this privilege and adhere to the rules. Important distinction: Shifters do not have to change with the full moon.
Weres: Beings who have been BITTEN, and thus suffer through the ‘Change,’ where an animal spirit, sister to that of the ‘Biter,’ is forced to merge with the original human. Weres are at the mercy of the full moon to initiate the Change, but may also switch to their animal forms, or vice versa, at any time. Think American Werewolf in London with a Realm of Shadows twist.
Possible Strengths (for Shifter and Were):
• Increased strength and stamina
• Increased sense of smell, taste and touch
• Advanced healing
• Increased sensitivity to the ‘unseen,’ such as ghosts and poltergeists
* Born Shifters are able to wield arcane magic and shift time and space although its discouraged. Going back in time to change something that happened is FORBIDDEN because it causes ripples in time.
Possible Weaknesses (for Shifter and Were):
• Silver
• The full moon (Were only)
• Beheading will cause death
Demons –
A good place to look for Demon guidelines would be Katie MacAllisters "Guardian Series" with Ashling Grey, Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters, or Gena Showalters Darest series!!
Demons defined in the Realm are not those crawling out of Hell, but rather a separate family of beings. They have the ability to shift between a human form and their natural, ‘demonic form,’ which includes wings, talons, claws, fangs and other markings (tails, stone bodies, etc), dependant on their specific specie.
Species are open to the imagination of the writers. For example, one type of demon may be given the natural form that includes a tail, pitchfork and pointy teeth, while another, according to the will of the writer, may look like a serpent.
Demons may also have ‘owners,’ whom they are dependant on for their loyalty, well being and care. ‘Owned’ demons have the ability to merge with their owners, both spiritually and physically, forming an intricate tattoo on the owner’s skin.
Possible Strengths:
• Increased strength and stamina
• Ability to use fire to their advantage
• Shift between human and demonic forms
• Mind-communication
• Spell casting
• Inability to age
Possible Weaknesses:
• Owned demons will die if their owners are killed
• Un-owned demons can also die by mortal means (i.e. bullets, car wrecks, knives, etc)

Demi-Gods –
Demi-Gods are defined in the Realm as being half human and half God. Gods may include the Greek/Roman deities, and others from various religions and/or time periods. Please refrain from making a character based on a specific God or Goddess, as this may result in future God-moding disputes.
Possible Strengths:
• Increased strength and stamina
• Magical ability based on their God-parentage (being a half-breed, however, Demi-Gods will not be as strong as their parent, nor will they possess all of their parent’s abilities)
• Inability to age
Possible Weaknesses:
• Dependant on how strong the God’s blood runs hrough your characters veins, weaknesses may mirror that of a human. Aka, if the human side is dominant, the Demi-God will age slowly, but be subject to the dangers of mortality, including but not limited to bullets, knives, car crashes and other fatal accidents.
• Demi-Gods are also always at risk of being CURSED. Curses may range from the inability to touch another living being, bouts of insanity, or turning into a monster at the full moon.

Fae –
FOR OUR PURPOSES ON SITE WE FOLLOW THE FAE REALM AS WROTE BY KAREN MARIE MONING. Powers are drawn from the universe and things around the Fae at time of play.
The Fae people, like the Demons, are a separate race of beings that originate in the Fae Realm. This Realm is located in another plane of existence parallel to that of the human world, and each Fae has the ability to travel to and from the Fae Realm to the Human World.
The Fae are ruled by two royal houses: The Seelie and the Unseelie Fae.
At this time, there will be no Fae’s of royal power accepted.
Each Fae may take a side, supporting Light or Dark, but generally, the Fae that roam the Realm of Shadows prefer to keep their alliances neutral. The general personality of the Fae people revolve around their love of seducing those around them, for their own, sometimes nefarious reasons.
Possible Strengths:
• Can manipulate the realms to their advantage. This means that they may travel from Realm to Realm, and pull on the ‘energies’ of each world to protect themselves.
• Are master spellweavers
• May appear invisible to mortals
• Seductive and eternally beautiful
Possible Weaknesses:
• Silver
• Enclosed spaces; as beings of Nature, the Fae grow weak when kept away from fresh air for too long
• Are susceptible to capture by spells
Some other information regarding Karen's Fae taken from her site and COPYRIGHTED to her and her alone! USED ONLY AS GUIDELINES!
Fae Information
Death-by-Sex-Fae : (e.g. V'lane) A Fae that is so sexually "potent" a human dies from intercourse with it unless the Fae protects the human from the full impact of its deadly eroticism. (Definition ongoing.)
Fae : (fay) see also Tuatha Dé Danaan. Divided into two courts, the Seelie or Light Court, and the Unseelie or Dark Court. Both courts have different castes of Fae, with the four Royal Houses occupying the highest caste of each. The Seelie Queen and her chosen consort rule the Light Court. The Unseelie King and his current concubine govern the Dark.
Note: In our realm, there will be no consort or concubine unless Corbin wants beat or a guy wants the King to eat HIM.
Four Stones, the : translucent blue-black stones covered with raised rune-like lettering. The key to deciphering the ancient language and breaking the code of the Sinsar Dubh is hidden in these four mystical stones. An individual stone can be used to shed light on a small portion of the text, but only if the four are reassembled into one will the true text in its entirety be revealed. ( Irish Myths and Legends )
Hallows : eight ancient relics of immense power: four light and four dark. The Light Hallows are the stone, the spear, the sword and the cauldron. The Dark are the mirror, the box, the amulet and the book (Sinsar Dubh or Dark Book). ( A Definitive Guide to Artifacts; Authentic and Legendary)
Null : A sidhe-seer with the power to freeze a Fae with the touch of his or her hands (e.g. Me.) The higher and more powerful the caste of Fae, the shorter the length of time it stays frozen. (Def. J.B.)
Seelie : the "light" or "fairer court of the Tuatha Dé Danaan governed by the Seelie Queen, Aoibheal. (Def. J.B.)
Sidhe-seer : (SHE-seer) A person Fae magic doesn't work on, capable of seeing past the illusions or "glamour" cast by the Fae to the true nature that lies beneath. Some can also see Tabh'rs , hidden portals between realms. Others can sense Seelie and Unseelie objects of power. Each sidhe-seer is different, with varying degrees of resistance to the Fae. Some are limited, some are advanced with multiple "special powers." (Def. J.B.)
Sifting: Fae method of locomotion, occurs at speed of thought.
Sinsar Dubh : (she-suh-DOO or shi-sadu): a Dark Hallow belonging to the Tuatha Dé Danaan. Written in a language known only to the most ancient if their kind, it is said to hold the deadliest of all magic within its encrypted pages. Brought to Ireland by the Tuatha Dé during the invasions written of in the pseudo-history Leabhar Gabhåla, it was stolen along with the other dark hallows, and rumored to have found its way into the world of Man. Allegedly authored over a million years ago by the Dark King of the Unseelie. ( A Definitive Guide to Artifacts; Authentic and Legendary)
Tuatha Dé Danaan or Tuatha Dé : (TUA day dhanna or Tua DAY) (See Fae above) A highly advanced race that came to Earth from another world. (Definition ongoing.)
Unseelie : the "dark" court of the Tuatha Dé Danaan. According to Tuatha Dé Danaan legend, the Unseelie have been confined for hundreds of thousands of years in an inescapable prison.

Information on the Seelie Court
The Seelie Court is made up of the nobles of the Fae, who are mostly benevolent, though unpredictable. They differ from their solitary Unseelie counterparts in their gaiety, laughter, and sense of fun, very much different from the Unseelie who enjoy, and reside, in dark humour (and that's not funny!)
The Seelie often enjoy playing pranks on the unwary and each other. Common going-ons include riddle and trivia contests, poetry writing, and many elaborate ceremonies. Pranks against denziens of the outside world as well as the occasional Unseelie Fae are often organized (in the new economy of the new millenium, we cannot be conventional).
The Seelie have a light-hearted sense of humour, and indulge in many games. The lands of the Seelie are perpetually bright with sunlight, filled with gay laughter and music. The mortal adventurer must always be wary of the nymphs, leprachauns, and the various Fae who reside within the land of Eternal Youth.

Witches and Warlocks –
Witches and Warlocks are just what they sound like; master spellcasters. They are human, and thus mortal, unless cursed by another Witch, Wizard or Being of Power.
White Witches and Warlocks tend to follow a nonviolent, natural path, preferring serenity and peace over war. They are usually found pursuing professions in healthcare, public service or nature conservation.
Dark Witches and Warlocks, on the other hand, prefer violence to peace. They crave destruction, chaos and are, for the most part, clinically insane. Most of this Dark Path started off in the White, but lost their way through trauma or strong personal emotion.
Possible Strengths:
• Spellcasting
• Ability to neutralize their opposites. For example, the greatest strength of a White Witch is his/her ability to use White magic to defend themselves against a Dark Witch
• Most Witches/Warlocks of any kind may tap into the natural power of the particular Realm, called ‘ley lines.’ Not all are able to control the vast power of the Earth, however, and masters at Ley Line magic are rare.
Ley Line Witches will adhere to the the rules set down by Kim Harrison in her White Witch Chronicles series! These are magical lines that run through the earth at set points and have to be used as such! NO EXCEPTIONS!
Ley line magic
Ley line magic has less permanence than earth magic, but is much faster and more easily adaptable. Power can be drawn directly from a ley line or through an animal familiar. The energy is either channeled using a focus object or what is referred to as "wild magic" in which the power is imprecisely directed by the magic user that drew on the line. Ley line magic can only alter perception and not physical form like earth magic.
Possible Weaknesses:
• Mortality
• Are susceptible to being Cursed
• Illusions of grandeur – mostly suffered by Dark Witches and Warlocks, the black magics that they favor tend to take a toll on their minds. What could have been a very happy, content person will become twisted after a long period of time dealing in the Dark Arts.

As stated before, these are not the only kinds of beings that are allowed in the Realm! Whip out that imagination of yours and- to an extent- have fun! These are merely guidelines for the aforementioned species, to prevent one Uber-Powerful Vampire King with illusions of grandeur.
We already have one of those, and his name is Corbin Muunokhoi. Anyone else trying to take over his category will be systematically eaten.
